5 Best Banff Hotel Hot Tubs

Words by Jodie Fothergill

Published on October 3, 2025

After a jam-packed day exploring Banff, there is nothing quite like relaxing in a steaming hot tub to recharge. In the summer, relax in the sun and soak in the long golden evenings as mountain peaks glow above you; in the winter, warm-up from the crisp alpine air with steam rising around you as snowflakes fall and settle on the trees. Here’s a closer look at five of our Banff hotels which pair outdoor hot tubs and pools with awe-inspiring views, wellness-forward design, and easy access to on-site dining and bars – whatever the season, relaxation is always effortless.

Amenities: Rooftop hot pools with mountain views, sauna, and a gym.

Uptown Banff’s latest addition is the definition of mountain luxury. Unwind in rooftop hot pools or stay warm and cozy by the firepits; both have a postcard-perfect view of the iconic Cascade mountain. On the main floor, Good Folk serves contemporary Canadian cuisine and cocktails in an intimate setting.

Insider Tip: Head up to the rooftop just before sunset to see the alpenglow on Cascade.

Hotel Canoe & Suites

Amenities: Rooftop hot pools and sauna; outdoor lounge area.

The brand new rooftop at the Hotel Canoe is Banff’s best kept secret. Step out of the sauna into fresh alpine air and then relax in the hot pools, all while taking in the breathtaking views of the iconic Rocky Mountains. Settle around the firepit for post-adventure de-briefs, or take a quiet moment to yourself and relax on the loungers. Sudden Sally is the on-site, all-day spot for breakfast through to dinner; with a 50% happy hour running 2–5 pm daily.

Insider Tip: Book an upper-floor unit for balcony views, then head to the rooftop pools after dark.

Amenities: Two rooftop hot pools with mountain views, an indoor pool, a sauna, and the Meadow Spa on-site.

Indulge in a massage at the Meadow Spa, take five in the spa lounge, then head to the rooftop to watch the sunset. The hot pools gaze out at Banff’s famous Cascade summit, so you can watch the light transition through golden hour without getting chilly. Plus, there’s a private hot pool just for spa guests – if you’re after a quieter, more serene vibe.

Tip: Pair an afternoon treatment with an evening rooftop soak for the perfect après-ski.

Amenities: The Grotto – an atmospheric underground hot pool inspired by the historic Cave and Basin, plus a sauna and gym.

The Fox does things differently, bringing the outdoors in with a cave-inspired hot pool and a skylit opening that lets snowflakes and steam mingle in the winter. Stone walls and gentle echoes create the perfect hidden sanctuary. It’s intimate and authentic without feeling small, and the quick walk back to your suite makes relaxing in the evening easy from start to finish.

Insider Tip: The cave pool is a design inspired by Banff’s historic Cave & Basin – while you can’t bathe there anymore, the Fox Hotel is the next best thing.

Amenities: Two outdoor hot pools overlooking the valley and the mountains, plus a sauna.

Tucked up on Tunnel Mountain, the Hidden Ridge Resort is well away from the hustle and bustle of town. The outdoor hot pools feel rustic and relaxed – ideal if you prefer a quieter scene. You’ll have breathtaking views across the entire valley and Banff town, and wildlife sightings are common.

Insider Tip: For an even more exclusive experience – reserve the Premier King Condo which has a private balcony hot tub.

Banff Upper Hot Springs vs. Hotel Hot Tubs

The Banff Upper Hot Springs on Sulphur Mountain is a public mineral pool run by Parks Canada. Although it’s fed by hot springs, it’s not the original spot that Banff was founded on – that’s at the Cave & Basin which is now a National Historic Site and not a bathing spot. The Upper Hot Springs are a classic Banff attraction, but can get very busy. You need to either drive or take public transit to get there, queues can be long and the pools themselves get very packed. Hotel hot pools on the other hand are exclusive to guests and right next to your room, so you can skip the queues and forget about parking. Just grab your robe, slippers, and towels , and you’ll be out relaxing in the hot pool just a couple steps from your room.

Banff Upper Hot Springs will be closed for maintenance from September 2 to December 2025.

Tips for Enjoying Your Banff Hot Tub and Pool Experience

Time it right. Sunrise is quiet and peaceful, with soft pink light to start the day. Sunset will give you the golden alpenglow on the peaks, and then slowly unveil the starry night sky. Snowy evenings are peak atmosphere, especially on rooftops. Weeknights tend to be less busy than weekends.

Pack small comforts. Our hotels provide you with a warm robe, slip-resistant slippers, and towels so you’ll be all set. To stay extra warm and cozy, a beanie goes a long way for snowy winter bathing. Keep water or herbal tea nearby to stay hydrated at altitude and especially in the summer.

Use the setting. Leave your phone in your room and really immerse yourself in your surroundings. Pair a spa treatment with your soak for full-body and mind recovery, and don’t forget to make time for one last dip before checkout.
